Zotac GeForce GTX 980 Ti AMP! Graphics Card Review

Final Thoughts
NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 980 Ti still remains supreme as the card to get for high-end gamers and enthusiasts, even after the release of AMD’s Fury X graphics card. It is the card to get if you want to do gaming at 4K resolution. Now that the card has been out for a little while we are seeing many companies come out with custom version of the card. Zotac actually has a total of six GeForce GTX 980 Ti cards. The GeForce GTX 980 Ti AMP! sits as the third card from the bottom with three more cards above it in Zotac’s product stack. The card has a modest factory overclock of 1051 MHz base and 1140 MHz GPU Boost with the memory untouched at 7012 MHz (GDDR5-effective). This will give you a slight performance boost over the reference GeForce GTX 980 Ti.

One really impressive thing about this card is the new IceStorm cooling solution. The entire cooling solution is made of metal, which is something that you really don’t see these days. On top of that Zotac has accented the card with carbon fiber, which just looks awesome. The card also has a very sleek backplate. The cooling solution looks great, but does it do its job? It sure does! During our extreme load test the card only reached a maximum temperature of 72C and while the fans were the loudest in our test group they were not that loud at all, you probably wouldn’t notice them at all if you had a headset on. On top of that the fans actually do turn off during idle and light gaming, so you have less noise and power draw.

The only things I felt were missing on this card was that the Zotac logo on the side of the card did not light up and the memory was left at it reference speed of 7012 MHz.

Right now this card is selling for $648 at my favorite online retailer, which makes it just about the same price as a reference GeForce GTX 980 Ti. So it is a no-brainer to pick this card as you are getting a factory overclock and a custom cooling solution for the same price! Overall ThinkComputers gives the Zotac GeForce GTX 980 Ti AMP! a 9 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award!
