Zalman ZM-MH200 U3 USB 3.0 Dual HDD Docking Station Review

Testing
For testing we will be using the recently reviewed Western Digital SiliconEdge 256GB Solid State Drive.  We will be using the ZM-MH200 U3 with our Intel test system that has a Core i7 965 Extreme and Gigabyte X58A-UD5 motherboard.

For comparison we will be testing the ZM-MH200 U3 against the Thermaltake BlacX 5G HDD docking station.  We will be using HDTune Pro for testing.  Here are the results from both the read and write benchmarks.  Also we have provided a graph to compare these results from our tests with the Thermaltake BlacX 5G.

If you notice during the write test during the end it sort of crapped out.  This happened on tests with both enclosures and is caused by the hard drive we were using not the enclosures.  If you check out our review of the Western Digital SiliconEdge 256GB drive you can see we encountered the same problem.

Finally we decided to test USB 2.0 vs. USB 3.0.  The ZM-MH200 U3 is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 so all we had to do was plug the ZM-MH200 U3 into an open USB 2.0 port on our motherboard.  Here are the results compared to USB 3.0.
