WhatsApp for web, as you can guess is a web-based client so it will run in your browser. You will not have to download a dedicated program to your PC. To get started with WhatsApp for the web head on over to the WhatsApp web page using Google Chrome and scan the QR code using the WhatsApp app on your phone to log in.

This may seem like a weird requirement, but WhatsApp uses your phone number for verification purposes instead of a username or password. This process will also pair the WhatsApp app on your phone to the web client. This means that your conversations are still kept on your phone and you will need to keep your phone connected to the internet during your WhatsApp web session.

WhatsApp for web is said to work with Android, Blackberry and Windows Phone, but not iOS just yet.
