We Could See 6-Core AMD Ryzen Models

Earlier this week we reported that AMD Ryzen models might only be 4-core and 8-core, with the obvious 6-core and dual-core models missing from the lineup. Well new reports have surfaced that AMD will actually be launching a 6-core, 12-thread Ryzen chip.

The guys at CanardPC have tweeted that there is a 6-core, 12-thread Ryzen CPU that is clocked at 3.3 GHz base. This does make sense if the silicon can’t handle the two additional CPU cores. So AMD will disable them and have an extremely stable and solid 6-core Ryzen chip. VideoCardz is also reporting that we will see three high-end Ryzen chips:

6-core/12-thread – 3.3GHz
8-core/16-thread – 3.4GHz
8-core/16-thread – 3.6GHz

It is expected that review samples of Ryzen chips will be sent out to reviewers by the end of this month with a launch sometime in March. With the Ryzen launch incoming we could see a drop in price of Intel chips.
