WD My Passport SSD 1TB Review

Fast portable storage is something that is almost necessary these days, especially for content creators. If you have ever tried to edit 4K video on a slow drive you know exactly what I am talking about. Fast portable drives are also great for moving data, and no one wants to wait around for file transfers! WD’s fastest portable drive solution is their My Passport SSD, which is a true solid state drive that makes use of a USB 3.1 connection for the fastest speeds possible. Available in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB capacities the My Passport SSD boasts transfer speeds of up to 515 MB/s! Let’s see if this drive is the perfect gift for the media creator on the go!

Special thanks to WD for providing us with the My Passport SSD to review.

The My Passport SSD comes in a nice retail box. On the front there is a photo of the drive and it lets us know the capacity, transfer speeds, and some of the main features.

Flipping over to the back we have more information, a list of package contents, compatibility (the drive will work on both Mac and PC), and a little diagram showing you how to use the USB adapter.

Getting everything out of the package we have the My Passport SSD, USB 3.1 Type-C cable and adapter, getting starting guide, and technical support & warranty guide.

The adapter that is included is a Type-C to Type-A connector, it simply goes on to one of the ends of the included cable. This makes it so WD does not have include two different cables, and makes the drive compatible with systems that do not have Type-C connections.
