When you plug the drive into your computer and power it on it will automatically be detected and you can install the CMS BounceBack Express backup software. The software is much like other backup software we have seen bundled with external drives. You can select to backup everything or you can create a backup set.
When you create a backup set you are able to select the files you want to backup. There are check boxes for My Documents, My Pictures, My Music, and My Videos to make things easier for you. Once you select your source you then can select your destination, which is the external drive. You can also schedule backups or set them manually. Once you have everything ready for your backup it will do an estimate, something most backup software does not do. This will tell you the backup size and how long it will take to complete the backup.
To test the speed of the drive we used HD Tune. Remember this is only a USB 2.0 drive so we are limited by the speed of the USB connection.
As you can see the results are pretty typical for an external hard drive. You will have no issues watching movies or playing any other type of media from this external drive.
