Thousands Of Snapchat Photos Leaked, Snapchat Says It Is Not Responsible

Well if you are a Snapchat user this might not be good news to hear. Around 13 GB of Snapchat photos and videos, which are supposed to be private and of course deleted after a certain period of time have been leaked and are being circulated through 4Chan. This is being called “The Snappening” by 4Chan users. Snapchat has responded by saying that they are not responsible for the leak.

Snapchat representative was quoted saying, “We can confirm that Snapchat’s servers were never breached and were not the source of these leaks. Snapchatters were victimized by their use of third-party apps to send and receive Snaps, a practice that we expressly prohibit in our Terms of Use precisely because they compromise our users’ security. We vigilantly monitor the App Store and Google Play for illegal third-party apps and have succeeded in getting many of these removed.” in a statement.

While it has yet to be determined what third party apps or websites are responsible for the leak Business Insider has pointed to Snapsaved.com, which appears to be no longer in operation. Also many of the photos have seen traced back to SnachatLeaked.com, which might mean they have been circulating for months.

So who do you think is to blame?
