Thermaltake Frio OCK CPU Cooler Review

Overview
According to Thermaltake, the Frio OCK has a Starcraft II design. Perhaps it has to do with the coloring of the transparent blue plastic or black outer shell. Whatever the reason being, the Frio OCK comes equipped with two 130mm fans for optimal airflow over the dual heatsink design.

The fans are attached to the black plastic which forms over the outside of the heatsink and locks into place on the two smaller sides. The whole fan unit can be easily removed if necessary by simply releasing the tension on the two plastic clips.

The top of the heatsink is covered by the same blue translucent plastic that is found on the fans. It also has six holes on either side for the capped off 6mm heatpipes. The U-shaped heatsink design allows for optimal cooling over the six copper heatpipes which are spaced far enough apart in the heatsink to allow enough airflow to cool them properly.

The base, as well as the heatpipes, have a high gloss nickel plating on them. Since the two fans are used as a unit their power cables are attached as well, so you don’t have to get an adapter or plug in two fans into your motherboard. Both fans can also be adjusted by the fan control knob, which is also attached to the power cable.

As you can see from the pictures, the base has a high reflectivity, which some believe provides better contacts between the heatsink and the base, thus leading to better cooling performance.
