Thermaltake Element S Mid Tower Case Review

Installation & Usage
To start off the installation I installed my motherboard first. It was very simple just place the standoffs and screw it in. I really like the all black mounting screws.

Next was my optical drive. I had to take off one of the front drive bay covers and slide my drive in. Interesting enough on this case when you push your drive all the way in it will not go any further and align perfectly with the front of the case and the screw holes line up perfectly. That is simple enough!

Hard drive installation on the Element S is very simple. It is a tool-less system, that actually works well. You will need 5 of the hard drive screws that are included. Take 3 and install them on the LEFT side of your drive. Take the other 2 and install them on the FIRST 2 spots on the RIGHT side of the drive. Then take the drive and side it into an open bay. The plastic lever will hold it in place. If you want to remove it just release the lever. You do not need to have the hard drive cage out of the case to install the hard drive, we already had it out when installing the system.

Next is the power supply, I took off the divider so it would be easier to install the power supply. That is done by removing 2 thumbscrews. The power supply easily slides into place. I was going to put the divider back on but because my motherboard’s ATX power connector is in the weirdest place possible (at the top of the board) but if I did the ATX connector would not be long enough. This is an issue with my motherboard, not the case.

Once you have everything all connected there is still a lot of room left in the case. There is a cable management system on the backside of the case. There are 3 holes where you can put wires, I wish the holes would have gone all the way up to the top of the case, but never the less they really helped us with the cable management. Our cable management would have been even better if our ATX power connector would be in a normal spot in our motherboard. All of our extra wires we put in the empty hard drive bays.

When you power up the system the top 230mm fan will light up red. It adds a little flare to the case, but nothing that flashy. Also when the system is turned on you can barely hear anything running, it is a very quiet case!
