The 2012 Year in Review

Wow can you believe it is already 2013!  It seemed like the year went by so fast!  2012 was a great year here for us at ThinkComputers and a growing year as we added many new features to the site over the year.  I have spent the last week really thinking about 2012 and this post sort of sums it all up!  This is quite a long post, but please take the time to read it as we have a lot to talk about and what you can look forward to in 2013!

The Good
We did accomplish a lot in 2012, but I think the thing we did the best was build a community.  If it was on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube or even on the forums we really made an effort this year to connect with you, our readers.  And of course without you guys this site would not exist.

We have also tried to provide some of the best reviews out there.  Mixing both written and video content seems to have worked really well and everyone has enjoyed the new video content.  With the reviews we have tried to make them as in-depth as possible so you can make the best possible purchase when going out to buy the actual product.  In 2012 we posted quite a lot of articles.  Many of you commented on how you enjoyed the articles and we find that they provide for some really great discussion.

The Bad
We did do some bad things in 2012.  Two of which really stand out to me.  First the video ad, yes we know many of you are not a fan of it.  We took steps to make it no so bad, by allowing you the user to disable it.  Still we were not the biggest fan of it and as of right now it has been removed from the site.  We are not sure if we will put it back, but it will not be on the site through our CES run.  Secondly the forums.  I have been very lazy when it comes to the forums, rarely checking them each week.  I really want the forums to be active and that takes work.  As I am writing this I know I should be in the forums cleaning them out and posting things!

Looking Towards 2013
We are really looking forward to 2013 and we have a lot to accomplish.  Here is what we have planned.

More Staff
I think for ThinkComputers to really take things to the next level we need to add quite a few more staff members.  If its reviewers, people to post daily news, forum moderators etc.  I am currently writing 90% of the reviews on the site as well as doing everything else…PR, Marketing, website maintenance etc.  That does not give me a lot of time to really focus on other parts of the site so adding more staff will definitely help.  If you are interested in becoming part of the ThinkComputers community shoot us a line.  Stay tuned for a “write for us” landing page as well.

More Articles
As I said the articles we posted in 2012 were a big hit and we plan on doing even more articles in 2013.  Stay tuned for more guides, how-to’s and general technology articles.  We also hope to have some great mod articles.

Active Community
In 2013 we really want to have an active community.  This of course starts with the forums, which I plan to not be as lazy with, but it also extends to all of our social networks as well.  We have a great community and we hope to make it better for you guys as well as growing that community.

Website Improvements
We made more improvements to ThinkComputers in 2012 then we have in a while and we will continue to do that in 2013.  We are actively going to try and make the site load faster, add more features, make it easier to navigate, etc.  If we find a cool widget or plugin we will add it to the site and see how you guys like it.

Thanks again to everyone that is part of the ThinkComputers community and let’s have a great 2013!
