Well it turns out that "Turing" is named after British scientist Alan Turing, who is credited with leading a team of mathematicians that broke the Nazi "Enigma" cryptography. In any case NVIDIA's "Turing" is a crypto-mining and blockchain compute accelerator. It is designed to be compact, efficient, and ready to be deployed in large scale.

US and UK Government Website Infected With Crypto-Mining Malware

It seems that potentially thousands of websites run by U.S. and UK government agencies were infected Sunday with malware that caused visitors to secretly mine cryptocurrency. Government websites are already known for being slow and having horrible out-dated web design standards, and now they are embedded with crypto-mining malware that slows things down even more.

Samsung Confirms They Are Working on Mining Chip

As we reported last week, Samsung has entered volume production of a crypto-currency mining ASIC. These reports have been confirmed today by Samsung themselves, stating that they have entered the mining ASIC manufacturing market. The report last week mentioned an "unnamed client from China", who placed a massive order for a crypto-currency mining ASIC. This news was later somewhat confirmed by Samsung's latest earnings report, which did mention a higher than expected revenue in the semiconductor business due to "Samsung's acquisition of new China clients".

Bitcoin Mining Pool Nicehash Hacked, $68 Million Gone

It looks like we have another high-profile hack that has hit Bitcoin. The cryptocurrency mining pool Nicehash has confirmed that they suffered a hack where users wallets have been cleared out. The hack has transferred 4,736.4281 BTC in total ($68 Million USD) to the unknown party's (the perpetrator's, almost certainly) wallet.
