Intel Could Launch The Core i7-7740K at E3 2017

Intel is expected to be fighting back against AMD's Ryzen, and their first assault will be the Core i7-7740K and the "Basin Falls" platform. This processor and platform could possible launch at E3 2017 on June 12th. Intel is the main sponsor of the PC Gaming Show hosted by PC Gamer Magazine, which takes place in the backdrop of E3.

Intel X299 Chipset and Core i7-7740K Spotted

Intel's next generation HEDT platform will be the the 7th generation Core i7 "Kaby Lake-X" family. The platform will be based off of the new LGA2066 socket and will make use of a new motherboard chipset, the Intel X299 express. This platform will succeeds the current Core "Broadwell-E" family processors which make use of the Intel X99 chipset.

More Information On The Core i7-7740K and i5-7640K Leaks Out

As we previously reported, Intel is gearing up to fully combat AMD's upcoming Ryzen onslaught on the CPU market. They will be launching two new processors, which will be the Core i7-7740K and Core i5-7640K. These new processors will not be part of the current Kaby Lake-S lineup which is where you'll find the Core i7-7700K and i5-7600K desktop chips. These new chips will instead be part of the Kaby Lake-X lineup.

Intel Preparing Two New Processors To Combat Ryzen

AMD's upcoming Ryzen chips are probably the most anticipated CPU release ever, at least from what we can remember. They are really set to shake up the industry, something in our opinion it desperately needs. It has already been reported that Intel is "freaked out" over the performance of Ryzen, and now it seems like there are plans in the works to combat the upcoming Ryzen processors.
