Intel “Coffee Lake” Platform to Get 24 PCIe Lanes From The Chipset

Intel will be launching its Core "Coffee Lake" mainstream desktop platform later this year with the Core i7 and Core i5 processors coming first. Leaked company slides detail the chipset and one interesting thing was seen, the chipset itself puts out 24 PCI-Express gen 3.0 lanes.

AMD’s X370 Enthusiast Chipset Detailed

New details have emerged regarding AMD's X370 chipset. This will be AMD's enthusiast chipset for the AM4 platform and will support the upcoming Summit Ridge processors. These processors are of course based on the new Zen architecture and offer a 40% IPC increase over Excavator and much higher efficiency.

AMD’s “Zen” Integrated Chipset Having USB 3.1 Issues

According to rumors this on-die chipset is facing issues with its integrated USB 3.1 controllers. AMD has sourced the design for the integrated USB 3.1 controllers from ASMedia. ASMedia has a tendency of sourcing its integrated controller IP from third-party manufactures, for example in the past its SATA controllers and port-multipliers have been sourced from Silicon Image.
