Surface Book Announced By Microsoft

This week Microsoft announced its very first laptop, the Surface Book. It is more or less a Surface tablet that is designed as a proper laptop. According to Microsoft it is the most powerful 13-inch class laptop ever made (weight-by-weight). It sits in a very different class than most 13-inch laptops as it is a convertible, you have the ability to detach the top half from the bottom. This will allow you to use it like a Surface tablet, or you can dock it with the base in either direction giving you a proper mechanical keyboard, a multi-touch trackpad, additional battery (up to 12 hours), and more connections.

The Surface Book has a very interesting spinal joint, and a electric muscle joint. It actually senses when you are trying to detach the two halves, and will make the process effortless. The top part of the Surface Book is a 13.5-inch display that features a high precision multi-touch touchscreen that is made for the Microsoft Pen. Both halves of the device are made of milled aluminum and each section is only about 7.5mm thick. Most of the hardware is actually located in the top-half, while the battery is located in the bottom. Talking about hardware the Surface Book features a 6th Generation Intel Core i7 “Skylake” processor, discrete NVIDIA GeForce GTX “Maxwell” graphics with dedicated GDDR5 memory, 16 GB of DDR4 memory, and 1 TB of storage. Of course it comes preloaded with Windows 10 and Office 2016.
