Usage and Testing
The drive is fairly simple to use, just plug and play. I did find it handy to have the cap being able to be stored on the drive while it was in use. I tend to lose flash drive caps all the time, so the quick task of putting the cap on the holder made it quite handy to have.
Since this is a Godfather branded flash drive it’s got to come with some Godfather material, right? Correct, but probably not what you’d expect. On the flash drive there are 19 images of various Godfather slogans and posters in different languages. Definitely not worth just getting the flash drive for, but not a bad addition for the Godfather fan.
To test the Super Talent Godfather 8GB Rubber Flash Drive we used two programs: HD Tune and SiSoftware Sandra Removable Storage Benchmark. These tests were conducted on a XFX 680i LT SLI motherboard with a Q6600 processor and 4GB of DDR2 RAM in Windows Vista 32bit.
The drive itself wasn’t the fastest ever, but would you really expect that for a branded flash drive? I know I wouldn’t. The read speeds came out to about 24.2MB/s read and around 9.6MB/s write, which isn’t too bad for a relatively cheap flash drive. It also has a 0.7ms response time, which also makes it a nice Ready Boost drive.
Conclusion
Overall Super Talent has provided a nice flash drive for the Godfather fan. It provides mediocre speeds, but is a Ready Boost ready drive. It comes in a nice compact size and even includes a cap holder for those who lose their caps often. I’ve actually never seen The Godfather, but if I knew someone who enjoyed the movie this drive would make the perfect gift. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Super Talent Godfather 8GB Rubber Flash Drive an 8 out of 10 score.
