Testing
The following system was used for testing:
- Windows 7 64-bit
- AMD Phenom II X6 1100T @ 3.3 GHz
- Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600 RAM 8GB (2 x 4GB)
- ASRock 890FX Deluxe5
- Sapphire HD 5830 Xtreme 1GB
- Raidmax Aeolus VL Case
- G.Skill Phoenix Pro 40GB Solid State Drive
To test the power supply we ran OCCT’s PSU test for a 30 minute interval, running at fullscreen (1920×1200). Here are the results:
3.3V
5V
12V
The 3.3V was the most stable at only 0.05 ripple (1.42%), followed closely by the 5V with a 0.10 ripple (1.88%) and then even more with the 12V which had a 0.45 ripple (3.40%). These ripples aren’t that bad, considering some of the recent power supplies we’ve reviewed.
