Overview
The BlackDragon series of power supplies are aimed for the PC enthusiast and PC gamer. The series is available in three different models, 400W, 500W and 600W. This series of PSU’s isn’t geared towards providing high wattages, but rather, lower, more reliable and efficient ones. While they aren’t 80PLUS certified, Spire claims they have up to 86% efficiency and up to 30% less power consumption than standard power supplies.
The power supplies are all similar in style and have a black paint job to them. On the one side, you’ll find your standard output/input chart, as well as several other product information stickers.
The back of the power supply has a honeycomb mesh for airflow into the PSU as well as the standard on/off switch and power connection. On the front of the power supply is yet another sticker indicating the power supply information.
The cables come out of the front of the PSU. They don’t appear to be protecting coming out of the PSU by any sort of device. However, all of the cables are wrapped in a black mesh, so they do have some protection. The PSU is cooled by a 120mm blue LED fan, so it gives gamers that added blue look to their case.
The power supply isn’t modular, so there are plenty of cables to work with, for the 400W unit that we received there are the following connections: 20+4pin 1PCS, 12V (4+4) pin 1PCS, SATA 4PCS, PCI (6+2) pin 2PCS, IDE (Molex) 4pin 4PCS.
