SilverStone Primera PM02 Case Review

Final Thoughts

SilverStone bills the Primera PM02 as a tower design that further extends their “mission of bringing rich feature set and trend-setting aesthetics into PC chassis designs”, and we definitely think they have done just that. The PM02 includes many of the popular features found on today’s cases, and even includes a few that set this case apart from the rest of the pack, which ultimately delivers a rich feature set. The standard tempered glass side panel is nicely implemented, and the interior and exterior paint jobs are amazing.

We were really happy to see SilverStone include a USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C port, as we have been pushing for this to become a feature in current cases for quite some time. We also appreciate the fact that the PM02 includes four 140mm PWM fans. IT wouldn’t be uncommon to have a single fan at the rear included, or for there to be a few 120mm fans, but SilverStone’s inclusion of four 140mm fans is an amazing benefit. The other unique feature we enjoed was the LED “projector” at the front of the case that displayed “SilverStone” on the surface below the case.

SilverStone PM02 33 Large

Aside from a few minor snags in the build process, the features and build quality of the PM02 led to a great building and usage experience. There are plenty of generously sized cable management passthroughs, and the included velcro strips made keeping things clean that much easier. Add in the tool-less design of the drive trays and you have a very easy case to work with.

The SilverStone Primera PM02 resides in a category that is very competitive with regards to the features being offered and the price being asked. With a price of $140 on Amazon, the PM02 is a bit more expensive than other cases in this category, but we think that is for a few good reasons. First, the case comes with four 140mm PWM fans, which can really add up in price when purchasing them separately. Second is the inclusion of a USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C connector. This port is still quite uncommon on cases and including one on this case is a very forward-thinking move. So while the PM02 may be $20-40 more expensive than other cases in this realm, we think that these included options justify the pricing. The SilverStone Primera PM02 earns a solid 8 out of 10.
