SilverStone Precision Series PS11 Case Review

Outside the SilverStone PRECISION Series PS11-Q Computer Case
There is no need to point out that the SilverStone PRECISION SST-PS11B-Q is a very attractive case with its brushed metallic looking plastic front cover, matte black finish and its low profile stance along with the beautifully mirrored Logo in the front. The paint was sprayed very well and evenly, but it is very thin. The out cropping on both sides of the panels are two fold. One they give the case a more hardy look and they also add more room inside of the case for the parts to fit without grinding against the sides. This is a really nice looking case and I love the matte and mirrored look.

The front has all of the controls in the very top of the case, which gives more room for other things like two 5.25 inch ODD drive bays and a removable front cover panel over the two 120 or 140mm Fans that you will be installing into it, if you want to add them at you cost. The front panel is simple to remove by pulling the bottom panel outward and dropping it down and away for cleaning or revealing the fan.

The back of the SilverStone PRECISION Series PS11-Q is very low profile or (Flat Top) as you can see that the I/O Shield almost touches the very top of the case. The 120mm and 80mm fan installation can be done before the installation of the motherboard as the motherboard fits back behind the fans so there is plenty of room. There are only 7 PCI Slots that is fine since I really don’t think anyone will be planning on doing triple graphics cards in this case. But double SLI or Crossfire will be fine as long as your bottom card is 10 inches or less in length.

The PSU hole at the bottom is made for the Fan Up or the Fan down position and since the bottom filter is not very user friendly I would avoid the fan down arrangement so that you will not have to ever touch the bottom dust filter unless you want to unplug it all and turn the entire case over on its side to replace it. Doing it by feel is not recommended.

Front and Back of case

The two sides seen here below are identical in look and build. The panels are thin and have an insulation membrane on the inside out cropping and this does add to the quality as this can help eliminate vibration in the hull but the windowed version does not have the insulation, so I can’t report on that version’s need for dampening.

Mobo Tray Side

The back panel screws are the (stay in) variety and doesn’t fall out when you remove the side panel and the back of the panel have hand holds that are nice and large for your fingers to fit into. The panel is matte black painted and cleans easily but don’t use anything to strong on it. Just a mixture of an spoonful of DAWN dish-washing liquid to a full bottle of water in a spray bottle will keep this case looking new for a long time to come.

Left side Case panel

The top of the case of the SilverStone PRECISION Series SST-PS11B-Q is very plain but easy to clean and has a very sleek look in low light.

The bottom has four plastic feet that simulate rubber and the highlighted golden area that has been marked is the placement of the screen filter element and how it fits into the many bottom holding flaps. Its not easy to decipher unless one is looking directly at the job of screen replacement, so mount your power supply fan up so you don’t ever need to use it. The front panel seen from the bottom shows the hand hold for pulling out the front fan cover for cleaning when needed.
