Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 2TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive Review

Final Thoughts
When it comes down to choosing an external hard drive there are only a few choices and Seagate is one of them.  The FreeAgent GoFlex drive does offer some great features that will definitely make it a contender.

The drive and base are not much larger than the actual drive the is inside the casing.  This means it is not going to take up that much space on your desk.  We all value desk space so this is a place.  Talking about the base it is easily removable, it literally pops right off.  We did receive the USB 3.0 base, but there is also a USB 2.0 and firewire base so you have some options there.

Obviously with USB 3.0 this drive is going to be quite fast, we averaged around 85-100MB/s for both read and write speeds in our testing.  This means it is around 3 times faster than USB 2.0 so you are definitely going to notice a difference in transfer speeds.

The drive also comes with a good software package from Memeo that allows you to easily backup, sync, share and even send files.  The software is very easy to use and just is another perk if you decide to go with this drive.

This drive comes refurbished from Geeks.com for $89.99, which is about $0.04 a GB!  If you are a little worried about refurbished products from Geeks.com we have received quite a few an never had an issue with them.  This drive had no physical damage and works perfectly.  To give you an idea of how a refurbished product from Geeks.com comes check out our unboxing video.

I really cannot say anything bad about this drive.  Overall ThinkComputers gives it a 10 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award!
