Seagate FreeAgent Go 320GB Portable Hard Drive Review

Testing
Testing a hard drive is quite simple. Today we are using 2 programs in the testing Sandra’s Physical Disks benchmark and HD Tune. The drive inside the FreeAgent go is a 5400RPM drive and it is connected to our Dell XPS M1210 via USB. Here are the results.

If you take a look at the results they are what you would expect from a USB-connected hard drive. The transfer rate stayed pretty much the same throughout the test, which is what you like to see in a hard drive test. I also ran both tests again using the Go Dock and the results were the same. I played video and music from the drive without any problems at all.

The new LED display that Seagate is using on their external drives is very cool. It is sort of refreshing, I definitely like it. When you are transferring files to and from the drive the LED will pulse. If you do not like this you can turn the LED’s off.
