Scythe Byakko CPU Cooler Review

Testing
As I said we installed the Byakko in our Z97 system, it is made up of the follow components:

Processor: Intel Core i7-4790K
Motherboard: ASUS Z97-A
Video Card: Zotac GeForce GTX 1050 Ti OC Edition
Memory: 16GB Kingston 10th Anniversary
Power: be quiet! Dark Power Pro 11 850W
Storage: 120GB Samsung 840 Evo
Cooling: Scythe Byakko
Case: Cooler Master MasterCase 5 with 2 fans

For testing we will first be taking our idle temperatures from the Windows 10 desktop after having the system on in an idle state for one hour.

Next we will be putting 100% load on the CPU using Prime95. We will run it and take a temperature reading at the 1 hour mark.

Taking a look at the results you can see the Byakko did pretty bad, but in all honesty this cooler really is not designed to be used on a Core i7 processor, which we tested it on. I would say it is better designed for a Core i5 or Core i3.
