Sapphire Edge HD2 Mini PC Review

Sapphire Edge HD2 Overview
For a quick overview of the Sapphire Edge HD2 check out the video below.

The Edge HD2 is the smallest Mini PC that I have ever encountered!  See the photos below to see it next to the Zotac ZBOX HD-AD02.  It makes the ZBOX look huge!  The actual dimensions are 19.3 x 14.8 x 2.2 cm (L / W / H), which is very small!  Sapphire has gone with a rubberized outer coating that makes the Edge HD2 easy to carry around and will prevent scratches.

There are only 2 buttons on the Edge HD2 and they are they power and reset buttons.  They are also backlit, the reset buttons shows hard drive activity.  Moving around to the back you have all of your connections.  From left to right you have microphone, headphones, power, ethernet, 2 USB, HDMI and VGA.  Sapphire does include a HDMI to DVI adapter so no DVI connection is needed.

On the bottom there are 2 stickers.  One has all of the serial numbers for the Edge HD2 and the other has your product key for Windows 7.  Sapphire has pre-installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit edition.  There are small ventilation holes on each side of the device to help with cooling.

On the front of the device there is a hidden compartment that houses 2 more USB 2.0 ports giving you a total of 4.

The stand is easily installed and is made to look like water possibly.  It angles the Edge HD2 up and has ripples that resemble water.  This is very unique compared to the other stands we have seen for SFF systems.
