Samsung’s 960 Evo M.2 SSDs Available For Pre-Order

Back in September Samsung announced their 960 Evo family of PCI-Express solid state drives in the M.2 form factor, which support the NVMe protocol. The drives are now available for pre-order at Samsung’s US online store. The 1TB variant of the drive will be $479.99, the 500GB will be $249.99, and the 250GB will be $129.99.

With all three capacities the price-per-GB is around $0.50/GB, which considering these are PCI-Express drives that support NVMe that is pretty good pricing. So the lowest capacity (250GB) has sequential read and write speeds of 3200 MB/s and 1500 MB/s respectively. Writes increase as the capacity gets higher, the 500GB will go up to 1800 MB/s and the 1TB will have write speeds of 1900 MB/s. All three drives feature Samsung’s 3D V-NAND flash memory.
