Samsung Announces the Galaxy S4 Zoom

Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy S4 zoom smartphone. It is much more than a smartphone as you can see from the photos below. It is basically a hybrid between the Galaxy S4 mini and the Galaxy Camera. So you have a solid smartphone functionality with the versatility of the good camera with zoom lens and proper flash.

The Galaxy S4 Zoom features a 4.3-inch super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 960 x 540 and has Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. Under the hood you have a 1.5GHz dual core processor and 1.5GB of RAM. While the S4 Zoom has a similar footprint to the Galaxy S4 Mini it is noticeably thicker at 15.4mm thick. It is also heavier at 208g.

Of course the reasons for this is the 16MP camera on the backside of the device. Besides the 16MP sensor it also sports a 10x zoom, and xenon flash. There is also a proper grip on the back for taking photos. While the 10x optical zoom is less than the 21x zoom of the Galaxy Camera the S4 Zoom has a nice 24mm wide lens which is more important.
