Samsung 830 Series 128GB Solid State Drive Review

Testing – ATTO Disk Benchmark & CrystalDiskMark
Next up we have ATTO Disk Benchmark that measures transfer rates across specific lengths.  ATTO uses RAW data, our transfer sizes ranged from 0.5 to 8192kb.  ATTO is usually our definitive benchmark for solid state drives.

While the read speed was right up there with many of the other solid state drives, the write speed was much lower.

CrystalDiskMark is next and it has a sequential read / write test as well as a 512k and 4k random read / write test.  We normally run this test with a 0 fill or with compressible data, because SandForce-based drives perform better with compressible data.  Since this drive is not SandForce-based we ran the normal test first.

Very good results here and you can see that once we run the test with 0 fill the results are almost the same.  This means the drive does not suffer from the flaw of poor performance with incompressible data like SandForce drives do.
