Plextor M8Pe NVMe PCI-E Solid State Drive Detailed

Next week at CES Plextor will launch the M8Pe NVMe PCI-Express x4 solid state drive. The drive is actually based on a M.2 form factor (M.2 on a PCI-E card) over the non-volatile memory express protocol. The drive will effectively replace Plextor’s own M6e. If you can remember Plextor did announce a M7e last year and showed it off at Computex, but it was cancelled.

The drive will be capable of random 4K reads at 270 IOPS with 150K IOPS write. Not much else is known at this time as far as performance goes, but it will be a speedy drive for sure! The drive will also feature Plextor’s PlexTurbo RAM-caching which will add more performance.

Expect more details at CES!
