Patriot Viper Elite DDR4-3000 16GB Memory Kit Review

Final Thoughts
Patriot makes another solid entry into their DDR4 line with the Viper Elite Series. These kits seem to have it all, great performance, awesome looks, and they are very affordable. Starting out with looks I have to say there are not many DDR4 memory kits out there that look as good as the Viper Elite. The black and silver go together really well and the accent color and Viper logo really stand out. What it even better is that you have the choice of red, blue or grey. This means you can match these modules to your motherboard perfectly. I would have liked to have seen a black PCB instead of the green that Patriot used.

When it comes to performance the Viper Extreme is solid across the board. Operating at 3000 MHz with timings of 16-16-16-36 at 1.35V this memory definitely in that sweet spot when it comes to dual channel DDR4. I was able to push this memory from 3000 MHz up to 3200 MHz pretty easily by simply upping the voltage from 1.35V to 1.40V. This is not a bad overclock as 3000 MHz is already quite high for DDR4 and we did not loosen the timings at all. If you wanted to you could likely get more out of this kit by loosening the timings.

The heatspreaders do extend up above the modules so you are going to want to keep that in mind when you are considering cooling options for your build.

Right now the kit that we reviewed (PVE416G300C6KRD) is currently selling for $102.47 at our favorite online retailer. Patriot also backs this memory with a lifetime warranty. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Patriot Viper Elite DDR4-3000 16GB Memory Kit a 9 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award.
