Patriot Viper 3 DDR3-2400 8GB Memory Kit Review

Final Thoughts
For gamers and enthusiasts 2400 MHz memory is becoming the standard and Patriot is ready with their Viper 3 kits. The 8GB 2400 MHz kit (PV38G240C0K) that we reviewed today has some pretty impressive timings too at 10-12-12-31 at 1.65V. This ensures that you will get the best performance possible.

The Viper 3 kits are available with black, red or green heatspreaders to match pretty much any system out there. The heatspreader not only looks good, but it helps keep the modules nice and cool during operation. We had 1.7V running through the modules when we were overclocking and the modules did not have any heat issues whatsoever. On really cool thing about the heatspreaders is that they have the Patriot logo on the top so if you have a window on your case people can know you are rocking Patriot memory.

When dealing with memory that is already at 2400 MHz we do not expect to get that much out of it, but we were able to get an extra 266 MHz out of this kit with some pretty tight timings (11-12-12-31). While 2666 MHz is not the highest overclock we have achieved with DDR3 memory it is still very impressive and with the quality heatspreaders you are sure to achieve a decent overclock as well.

Right now the Patriot Viper 3 2400 MHz kit that we reviewed today is selling for just over $100, which put them on par with other 8GB DDR3-2400 MHz kits. Patriot also backs this memory with a lifetime warranty. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Patriot Viper 3 DDR3-2400 8GB Memory Kit a 9 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award.
