OCZ ZX Series 850W Modular Power Supply Review

ZX Series 850W Overview
The ZX Series power supply is a completely modular power supply, which means every cable is modular.  Lately we have seen hybrids where most of the cables are modular, but the ATX, CPU and a few other cables are connected directly into the PSU.  With the ZX series all of the cables have modular connectors.  We received the 850W version of the power supply, but it also comes in 1000W and 1250W versions.

On the bottom of the power supply there is a 140mm cooling fan.  This fan runs very silent, but still will keep your power supply nice and cool.  There is no exhaust fan on the back of the unit, just a large honeycomb section to help the power supply “breathe”.

On the top of the power supply is the output graph.  On each side of the power supply are OCZ and ZX Series logos.  If you have a window you should be able to see these.

As I said this power supply is completely modular, so you will have quite a few different connections on the front of the unit.  From right to left you have the 24pin ATX connector, 5 connectors for IDE/SATA drives, 2 connectors for CPU power, and 4 connectors for PCI-E devices.

– 4 x PCIe 6+2 pin
– 12 x SATA*
– 9 x Molex*
– 1 x Floppy
