NZXT H440 Mid-Tower Case Review

Final Thoughts
The first thing that I said when I took the H440 out of its packaging was, “WOW this thing is clean” and it really is. It has to be one of the best looking cases that I have reviewed in a long time. The matte black is a great choice and is really different from what we normally see from case manufacturers. The red accents really look great and if red is not your thing they also offer the case with blue, orange or green accents. This is definitely a case I would want sitting on my desk for people to look at. The large side panel window also gives you the ability to show off your hardware inside. The introduction of the power supply cover is just awesome and makes the case so much better, especially considering that the NZXT logo on the cover lights up. A case can look great, but is it functional as well?

When it came to installation it really was a breeze. I did not run into a single issue with installation at all. While there are no tool-less systems here I actually felt better that my hard drives were being held into place with metal screws and in metal trays. There are thumbscrews on everything and they do make installing and changing out hardware extremely easy. Also the hard drive trays, power supply bracket and side panels have thumbscrews that stay attached so you don’t have to worry about losing them. There was more than enough room route all of my cables behind the motherboard tray and there are tie-downs everywhere to keep it nice and neat. This all of course leads to a clean looking system on the other side of the case where the side panel window is.

When it comes to cooling NZXT has loaded this case with four of their FV V2 fans (3x 120 mm front, 1x 140 mm rear) which should be more than enough to keep your system nice and cool. You also have the ability to add three 120 mm or two 140 fans to the top of the case. Also keep in mind you have the fan hub to easily connect all of your fans. If you want to go the watercooling route both the front and top support radiators up to 360 mm. The entire front storage system can be removed to make room for very extensive watercooling setups.

Of course to keep the sleek design of the case NZXT went without any type of optical drive bays. While this is not an issue to me as I haven’t used an optical drive bay for years this might bother some people. The case also has four USB ports on the top (2x USB 3.0, 2x USB 2.0) so you can easily connect a portable drive if you need to.

Right now the NZXT H440 is selling at my favorite online retailer for $132, which is a great price. Overall ThinkComputers gives the NZXT H440 Mid-Tower Case a 10 out of 10 score and our Editor’s Choice Award!
