NZXT Beta EVO Mid Tower Case Review

External Overview
The NZXT Beta EVO’s design is completely black, both inside and out. It supports up to nine drives, four external 5.25” and five internal 3.5” drives all of which include a tool-free installation. This gamer case puts itself out there as an affordable gaming chassis.

The Beta EVO is essentially an upgraded Beta case. The EVO has pretty much the same layout as the regular BETA. Some differences between the EVO and the regular Beta are that the EVO has:

  • A lower mounted PSU
  • Two extra fan locations on top (for a total of 6)
  • Redesigned motherboard tray
    • CPU cooler cutout
    • Cable management holes
  • Fan grill/filter for PSU
  • Reusable, meshed expansion slots

The front of the Beta EVO is the exact same as the regular Beta; it includes four external 5.25” drive bays with a wire mesh cover. The front bezel has a slight curvature to it which is also captured in the drive bay covers. The lower half of the case has similar look to a radiator for the airflow of the internal fan. The power and reset buttons, with blue LEDs, sit on the top of this ‘radiator’.

The easy-access slots are found on top of the case, they include mic/audio jacks, two USB ports, and an eSATA port.  Two 120/140mm fan grill cutouts sit back-to-back near the rear of the top of the case.

The side panel is plain except for the two 120mm fan grills located closer to the top of the case than the bottom of the case, unlike the regular Beta which is just the opposite.

The rear of the case has the typical outputs that most new cases have: motherboard I/O slot, 120mm fan grill, seven expansion slots, extra grill with two water-cooling holes, and PSU slot.

The case also includes two thumb screws on only one of the side panels, the left if you’re looking at it from the front.
