NVIDIA Officially Announces GeForce GTX 770 Graphics Card

After weeks of rumors and leaks the GeForce GTX 770 is here and NVIDIA has officially announced the card today. This will be the second desktop graphics card released in the GeForce 700 Series, of course the first was the GeForce GTX 780. It is really hard to tell the GTX 780 and GTX 770 apart really, but under the hood things are a little bit different, let’s take a look…

GeForce GTX 770 Graphics Card

The GeForce GTX 770 uses the GK104-425 A2 GPU core which is similar to the GK104-400 A2 used on the GeForce GTX 680. The card has 1536 CUDA cores, 128 texture mapping units, 32 raster operators and 3.5 billion transistors. You will have a core clock of 1046 MHz and a boost clock of 1085 MHz boost. The card will be available in 2GB and 4GB variants which run along a 256-bit wide bus. The memory is clocked at 7010 MHz (effective), making it the fastest clocked memory ever!

As far as cooling goes it will be using the same NVTTM cooler that we have already seen on the GeForce GTX Titan and GeForce GTX 780. The cooler is made up of a large heatsink block which is cooled by a blower fan. A separate fin stack also offers additional cooling. NVIDIA will be letting AIBs make their own custom cards with different coolers and non-reference PCBs.

The GTX 770 is a little more power hungry than its predecessor and has a TDP of 230W, which is supplied by and 8pin + 6pin connector. Outputs include DVI-DL, HDMI and DisplayPort. The reference card (2GB) from NVIDIA will retail for $399, but expect custom cards to have a premium.
