NVIDIA has a lot going on lately, last week they announced the flagship GeForce GTX 780 desktop graphics card, today they launched the GeForce GTX 770 and now they have introduced the new GeForce 700M series mobility GPUs including the flagship GeForce GTX 780M which claims the title of the fastest mobile chip in the world.
NVIDIA Announces GeForce 700M Series Mobility GPUs
NVIDIA’s GeForce 700M Series is made up of four GPUs, they include: GeForce GTX 780M, GTX 770M, GTX 765M, GTX 760M. The GeForce GTX 780M is the flagship of the series and the only one out of the four to use the GK104 core architecture.
The GeForce GTX 780M has 1536 CUDA cores and 4GB of GDDR5 memory which will give you 160 GB/s bandwidth. The core clock is set at 823 MHz and with NVIDIA’s GPU Boost 2.0 technology the chip would be able to hit higher clock speeds when needed. The GTX 780M is basically a GTX 680MX with faster clock speeds and GPU Boost 2.0 technology.
The rest of the GPUs in the lineup make use of the GK106 core architecture. Starting witht he GTX 770M it has 960 cores and operates at 811 MHz. It comes with 4GB of GDDR5 operating across a 192-bit interface at 4 GHz (effective). The GTX 765M and GTX 760M both have 768 cores and come with 2GB of GDDR5 memory across a 128-bit interface clocked at 4 GHz (effective). The difference between the two is the speed which is 850 MHz for the GTX 765 and 657 MHz GTX 760M. They both will have GPU Boost 2.0 technology.
