No SATA Express for Intel 9-Series Chipsets

One of the things that many people have been excited for is SATA Express. This technology essentially will sidestep the SATA bottleneck that comes in to play with traditional SATA technology. Well it looks like SATA Express will not be making its way to Intel’s Z97 chipset that is set to launch in Q4 of 2014. This has been confirmed by documents from Intel obtained by VR-Zone.

It is unclear why SATA Express will not be on Intel’s 9-Series chipsets. We had heard previous reports that Intel’s 9-Series chipsets would be among the first adopters of SATA Express. The SATA Express specification was standardized back in August. It allows for file transfers at speeds of over 6 Gbit per second using the PCI-Express lanes.
