New ASRock Motherboards Allow Non-K Overclocking

ASRock has just announced two new motherboards, the Fatal1ty H170 Gaming K4 HYPER and Fatal1ty B150 Gaming K4 HYPER. What sets these boards apart from the rest of ASRock’s motherboards is that they use an external clock-generator chip to give cadence to the CPU, circumventing the on-die clock-generator Intel has been using for the past several generations of Core processors.

With this chip you have the ability to increase the base clock frequency (BCLK) on non-K Intel Core processors in fine increments of 0.0625 MHz, as well as tweak the memory clock. Seems like a good work-around for those who want to be able to overclock their non-K Intel processors.

Besides have the new external clock-generator chip both boards are the same as the Fatal1ty H170 Gaming K4 and the Fatal1ty B150 Gaming K4 boards which have been out for some time now.
