Mushkin Reactor 512GB Solid State Drive Review

Muskin Reactor SSD Overview
The Mushkin Reactor is much like any other typical 2.5-inch solid state drive. The drive is housed in a black metal housing and on the front there is a sticker that lets you know the capacity and all other important information.

Flipping the drive over it is all plain, we do see four small mounting holes though.

At the end of the drive you of course have your SATA power and data connections.

Taking a look at the drive from the side we can see that this is a 7mm drive so it should have no problem fitting in Ultrabooks and other smaller devices. There are two mounting holes on each side of the drive.

Removing 4 screws will let you get inside the drive. When you first open the drive the PCB is sitting face-down in the casing. Here we can see 8 NAND chips and a Samsung cache chip.

Removing four more screws you can fully remove the PCB. Flipping it over we have 8 more NAND chips and we can see the controller, which is the Silicon Motion SM2246EN. While the NAND isn’t labeled we know that it is Micron and each chip is 32GB.
