Mushkin has finally upgraded the design of the heatspreaders on their memory and I have to say they are some of the best that I’ve seen, they really look slick. While they are mainly black they really stand out.

These new heatspreaders are called Ridgeback and are quite interesting. They are actually set and an angle so one side of the heatspreader is taller than the other. On the top left of the heatspreader is the Mushkin logo and on the bottom right you have the ridgeback logo.

Flipping the modules over on the back you have a small sticker that gives you all of the information on the kit. This is the 997207T kit which is an 8GB (2x4GB) kit that runs at 2800 MHz with timings of 16-16-16-36 at 1.2V. Mushkin has also gone with a black PCB to match the heatspreaders.

Looking at the two ends of the modules you can see that the heatspreader on the one side is taller. While this should not cause much of a clearance issue you might want to research it before you pick up this kit.

On the top part of the heatsink you have slits cut out to form a heatsink.
