MSI’s Z87 XPower overclocking motherboard has been one of the Z87 motherboards we have been most excited about. MSI has been teasing this board all month and now we have even more details on the board as Chinadiy has unveiled a full preview of the board which gives you all of the details of what the Z87 XPower Overclocking motherboard has to offer. The Z87 XPower motherboard is very large. If you look at the shot of it next to the MPower MAX or MPower board (see below) you can see just how big it is. It will feature 32-phase VRM design that uses all ceramic conductors, 4th generation DRMOS, 330uF tantalum capacitors and an 8-layer PCB. These components are all part of MSI’s Military Class IV design. There are overclocking buttons that will allow you to adjust the BCLK and FSB settings without having to enter the BIOS. There is also a multi BIOS switch, which could help in overclocking.

Power comes into the CPU socket via dual 8-pin connectors. The power components are cooled by three large heatsinks all connected by a heatpipe. This heatsink lights up with glowing patterns and a large X logo that glows yellow. Following previous generations the XPower board uses and black and yellow color scheme.

Expansion slots will include five PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots, two PCI Express 3.0 x1 slots. You will have the ability for quad-SLI and CrossFireX setups and the board has a PLX chip that adds up to 32 PCI Express lanes. Another great feature of this board is MSI’s Ceasefire which is a switch that can disable and unused expansion slot to free up extra PCI Express lanes. When it comes to storage you have 10 SATA 6GB/s ports and a mPCIe slot which can be used for a mSATA SSD or WiFi card.

The included OC Genie 4 engine allows users to adjust between gaming and default modes. In gaming mode the board will adjust clocks automatically to provide users with the most performance for gaming. By the four DDR3 slots you can also see overclocking features like power on/off switches, Clear CMOS, voltage adjustment and voltage measurement points.

The I/O on the motherboard includes two USB 2.0 ports, 8 USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, optical, dual HDMI, DisplayPort, 8-channel audio and a clear CMOS switch.
