MSI Teases Their Upcoming X299 Gaming Pro Motherboard

MSI is back to their teasing game. They have already teased X299 twice and now we have the third tease. This time it is of the X299 Gaming Pro Motherboard. This motherboard is of course designed for the upcoming Core i7 “Kaby Lake-X” and Core i9 “Skylake-X” processors.

The teaser photo shows us the top part of the board going down from the rear I/O. The rear I/O is covered with a shroud, which lets us know this is a “Gaming Pro” board and it looks like we will have some type of lighting on the shroud (likely RGB). Below that we can see four DDR4 DIMM slots, so we can assume this board will have a total of 8 (4 on the other side).

Also spotted is your typical 8-pin EPS connector, but there is an additional 4-pin as well. This is a little bit unusual as mid range boards like MSI’s Gaming Pro line typically do not have these. This could mean that some of the Core i9 “Skylake-X” SKUs do indeed have TDPs over 140W. Finally we get a little look at the new LGA2066 bracket, which looks to have a similar retention mechanism to the current LGA2011v3 socket.
