MSI Intros New X370 Gaming Pro AM4 Motherboard

MSI has just introduced the X370 Gaming Pro AM4 motherboard. This makes it their third “X370 Gaming Pro” motherboard. They have already introduced the X370 Gaming Pro Carbon, and X370 Gaming Pro Carbon AC. The new X370 Gaming Pro board is not part of the Carbon series and actually uses a different PCB and comes with a lighter feature-set than the other two boards.

Some of the things that are the same is that you have the same 10-phase VRM, two PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots (x8/x8 with both populated) wired to the CPU, a third x16 (electrical x4) slot wired to the X370 chipset, and three other x1 slots.

The real difference comes in when it comes to storage options. There are six SATA 6GB/s ports, but just one 32 GB M.2 slot with the MSI M.2 Shield. Instead of RGB LED illumination you get red LED illumination on the chipset heatsink, audio ground-layer isolation strip, and various other areas on the board. You are still able to control these LEDs using the Mystic Light software. The board has the Realtek RTL8111H controller Ethernet controller compared to the Intel solutions on the other boards.
