While the Surface Pro 3 is larger than previous Surface models, it is actually thinner and lighter. At just 1.8 pounds and 9.1mm thick Microsoft claims it is the thinnest Intel Core-based device on the market.

New additions to the Surface Pro 3 are the new “friction-hinge”, which is said to be reliable and smooth. It will allow the Surface Pro 3 to sit at a lower angle. This is great for being productive and makes it easier when you have the Surface Pro 3 sitting on your lap.

The new 12-inch screen has a 3:2 aspect ratio and native resolution of 2160 x 1440. Microsoft has also designed a new stylus for the Surface Pro 3, which they say is almost as natural as using a normal pen.

There is also a new Type Cover keyboard that features an improved touchpad and backlit keys. The keyboard can magnetically attach itself to the front of the device, which will offer improved stability when you have the Surface Pro 3 in your lap.
