Logitech G35 Surround Sound Headset Review

Final Thoughts
This is one of the products that I have reviewed lately that I’ve kept on my desk and used every day.  It is not often that, that happens since I see so many of the same products.  The thing that I really like about the G35 headset is that it is an all around headset.  It sounds great with music, movies and games.  The microphone is great for Skype calls or to talk to people in-game.  This may not be the best headset for gaming, or the best headset for music, but if you want a headset that has all around great sound the G35 definitely is it.

I was actually really impressed with the Dolby Headphone technology.  Especially since each earpiece only has 1 physical speaker inside.  This means the headphones are emulating 7.1 channel sound, while you may think that might not sound good, it really does.  It is very immersive in games and it seems like the sound is coming from all angles.  The earcups cover your entire ear, which actually makes for good outside-noise cancellation.

One really interesting thing that many people may not take into consideration is the buttons on the left earpiece.  First they are very convenient, much more than the traditional controls we see placed on the cable of the headset.  They are right there and easy to use.  The G Keys can pretty much do anything from launch a program to play and pause a movie.  You can also setup different profiles for the G Keys.

The only downside I can see to this headset is that if you have spent the money on a good sound card it is useless with this headset because it is a USB headset.

Right now the G35 headset sells for $69 refurbished from Geeks.com, which is an insane deal or you can get them brand new for $129 at my favorite online retailer.  I would definitely pay that for a headset that does it all that the G35 does.  If you like to listen to music, play games and watch media on your PC this headset is for you.  Overall ThinkComputers gives the Logitech G35 Surround Sound Headset a 9 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award.
