LG Launches First 5K UltraWide Monitor

The ultra wide standard has been around for a while now and is adopted by most all major monitor manufacturers. New to the market however is higher resolution standards. Announced at CES 2018 LG is launching their 34” 5K UltraWide, the 34WK95U a first for the South Korean manufacturer.

The flat panel is 21:9 and boasts a massive 5120 x 2160 HDR 600 resolution. Equipped with Thunderbolt 3 and the monitor will do 5K at 60hz. In addition to the Thunderbolt 3 connection we spotted a pair of HDMI ports, a pair of USB 3.0 ports, and a single displayport.

While the monitor is really quite a beautiful display with it’s nearly edgeless bezels and curved feet, it lacks a curve and this is something to consider. It shouldn’t be a problem at all if you have plenty of space to sit back from the monitor but those who don’t have this option are going to find the display cumbersome to use.
