Lenovo Opens Its First PC Manufacturing Facility in the U.S.

Lenovo now has established its PC manufacturing plant in United States and is fully operational. Although most the operations are still taking place in overseas but residents of Whitsett, Carolina is taking advantage of employment opportunities with Lenovo’s factory. The fabulous inauguration provided the opportunity to a few public figures like Pat McCorry, North Carolina Governor to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony this week.

Lenovo has provided 115 new jobs at Whitsett production facility comprising 240,000 square foot, and the second largest PC manufacturer has plans of expansion by end of this month. Moreover, along with production facility it provides logistics centre, customer solutions centre and national returns centre. The Commerce Department of North Carolina presumes based on its analysis that plant has the capacity of generating handsome revenue of more than $1 billion to the state.

Yuanqing Yang, chairman and CEO of Lenovo claims, its company has attained the record growth and highest market share in US PC market, he also believes the Whitsett production facility will enable them to further expand and place strong footprints.

Importance of Whitsett plant can be judged by the fact that the new initiatives of Lenovo including ThinkCentre M92p Tiny desktop, ThinkPad Tablet 2, ThinkPad Helix convertible Ultrabook and some others are being manufactured there. Lenovo initiated its sales with the privilege of donating 36 ThinkCentre desktops made at this plant to Greensboror YMCA for contributing in their youth development and education programs.

In market where there is a downward trend in sales of other PC makers; Lenovo is enjoying a good place and posted record PC sales and in last quarter its profit rose to 90 percent.
