Kingwin Lazer Gold 1000W Modular Power Supply Review

Final Thoughts
Being 80PLUS certified is one thing, but being 80PLUS Gold certified is another.  This means the power supply will run at least 87% efficient between 20% and 100% load and 90% efficient at 50% load.  There are not a whole lot of power supplies with the 80PLUS Gold Certification.  According to the 80PLUS Program website, there are only 232 power supplies that are 80PLUS Gold certified compared to the 1,117 that are just 80PLUS certified.  In our testing the Lazer Gold 1000W proved to be very stable with minimum fluctuations on all of the rails.

Besides being super efficient and stable the Lazer Gold has a great design.  I really like the Crystal Cube modular plugs, they not only look cool, but they make it very easy for you to plug in your modular cables.  The modular cables have a neat design on them that stands out.  The 140mm lights up bright blue, which is pretty cool.  The fan is also a smart fan, which means it is only on when it needs to be.

Right now the Lazer Gold 1000W sells for $214.99 at my favorite online retailer, which is right around the same price other 1000W 80PLUS Gold certified power supplies sell for.  Remember this power supply is also available in 850W, 700W and 550W versions.  Overall ThinkComputers gives the Kingwin Lazer Gold 1000W Modular Power Supply a 10 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award!
