Kingston DataTraveler Locker+ G3 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Review

Final Thoughts
When it comes to USB Flash drives there really is not a whole lot to say, but I think Kingston has done a great job on the DataTraveler Locker+ G3 drive. This is a drive that is meant to keep your data safe and it does it in a few different ways.

First you of course have the hardware encryption and password protection. The drive simply cannot be accessed if you do not enter a password, the other partition will not even come up! This means if someone does not have your password they are not going to get your data. Also I do like the security feature of completely formatting the drive if the password is entered wrong 10 times in a row. If you did happen to lose the drive and someone has found it they do have access to your contact information, which they can use to get the drive back to you. You do have to keep in mind this means you will not be able to use this drive as a boot drive or with any other operating system except Windows or Mac.

Secondly you do have the USB to Cloud software, which automatically backs up everything you put on the drive to the cloud provider of your choice. So if you happened to leave the drive somewhere or lose it the files are already on the cloud for you to access.

Finally the drive is built extremely well. It has a thick metal casing they is going to prevent the drive from most physical damage. Also the cap is one of the ones that is a little harder to remove and it can be placed on the end of the drive so you don’t lose it when the drive is in use.

When it comes to performance with the 32GB drive you are going to max out at around 150 MB/s read and 95 MB/s write, which is actually above the advertised speeds.

Right now you can pick up the 32GB version of this drive for $29.99 at our favorite online retailer. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Kingston DataTraveler Locker+ G3 a 9 out of 10 score.
