Intel’s Kaby Lake-X Processors Reach End of Life

Just a year after their release, Intel is retiring their Kaby Lake-X processors. These include the Core i5-7640X and Intel Core i7-7740X, both of which were quad-core entry-level chips in Intel’s HEDT platform. You can check out our review of the i7-7740X here.

These chips really never took off like Intel expected them to, they even opening admitted that the demand for the Core i5-7640X and Core i7-7740X has shifted to other Intel products. Because of this Kaby Lake-X processors will reach end-of-life status on May 7, 2018.

Retailers, suppliers, and OEMs can still order these processors up to November 30th of this year with the last shipments going out for May 31 of next year. Well it was nice knowing you Kaby Lake-X…
