Intel Ivy Bridge-E Processors to Launch in September

We have heard that Intel’s will be launching their upcoming Ivy Bridge-E HEDT (High-End-Desktop) platform in Q3 of this year. VR-Zone has confirmed this and that the launch of the new processors would take place between the 4-11 of September. A more exact date of the 9th was mentioned, but it is not official.

The new Ivy Bridge-E processors could see about a 10% increase in performance over Sandy Bridge-E parts. These CPUs will also feature 40 PCI Express 3.0 lanes, native DDR3-1866 support Intel Hyperthreading, Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 and unlocked designs. The processors would be compatible with the current X79 chipset and have a TDP of 130W.

Ivy-Bridge-E-Details

The flagship CPU would be the Core i7-4960X which would feature 6 cores and 12 threads. It would have a default clock speed of 3.6 GHz and turbo boost up to 4.0 GHz as well as 15MB of L3 cache. This CPU would cost $1000.

Next up is the Core i7-4930K. This CPU has the same 6 cores and 12 threads, but has lower speeds of 3.4 GHz and turbo boost of 3.9 GHz with 12MB of L3 cache.

The last CPU is the Core i7-4820K. It will have 4 cores and 8 threads with speeds of 3.7 GHz and turbo boost of 3.9 GHz with 10MB of L3 cache. It will most likely launch with a price of $290-$350.
