Intel DZ87KLT-75K Z87 Motherboard Detailed

We have been talking about Intel getting out of the desktop motherboard business for quite some time now, but they are going to be releasing a few desktop boards to go along with their upcoming Haswell processors. These could be the last Intel board we ever see! The guys over at eTeknix have done a lengthy preview of the Intel DZ87KLT-75K motherboard.

The board is powered by an 8-phase VRM, which is compliant with Intel’s iVR design for Core “Haswell” processors. Two blue heatsinks cover the power delivery components. One has an Intel logo on it the other has a Skull and the part number: DZ87KLT-75K on it. The board features 5 fan headers and dual debug LEDs.

As far as expansion slots go you have three PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots (x16/x8/x4), three PCI Express 3.0 x1 slots and a legacy PCI slot. For storage you have the six SATA 6GB/s ports supplied by the PCH as well as two from a third-party controller. There is also a mSATA 6GB/s port. Rear I/O connections include Thunderbolt, six USB 3.0 ports, eight USB 2.0 ports, FireWire, 8-channel audio with SPDIF and two Gigabit Ethernet. There is also a front panel accessory that would give you more USB 3.0 ports, 802.11 bb/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0.
